One look at Giant's Trance 27.5 2 and you can imagine how fun it will be on the trails; so stop imagining and start riding! With an ALUXX SL aluminum frame featuring Maestro suspension, as well as a Fox Float CTD Evolution shock offering 140mm of bump-swallowing travel, you'll reduce rock gardens to ant hills. Up front, the Fox Float CTD Evolution fork gives you 140mm of travel to tackle the sickest lines. Both feature easy adjustability up the climbs, down the gnarliest descents, and for everything in between. No matter which way the dirt goes, Shimano's Deore/SLX 2x10 drivetrain provides buttery smooth shifts so you're always in the right gear and the 27.5-inch Giant wheels help you dive confidently into switchbacks and navigate through tech sections like Magellan. Top it off with durable Giant components including a rugged seatpost and stem, and you'll be dropping the hammer no matter what the trail throws at you.
27.5-inch wheels (also known as 650B) offer the best characteristics of 26- and 29-inch wheels for an outstanding ride.
Efficiency: Increasing the wheel diameter decreases the angle of attack (the angle at which round objects meet square objects). The lower the angle, the easier it is to roll over obstacles and maintain momentum.
Traction: With a larger diameter, the tire's contact patch increases, putting more rubber on the trail. A 27.5-inch (650B) has nearly the same contact patch as a 29er for superb acceleration, braking and cornering.
Weight: The weight of a 27.5 wheel, tire and tube is only 5% more than an identically built 26-inch wheel. Compare this to a 12% increase with a 29-inch wheel. Lighter wheels mean a lighter bike, and better climbing and acceleration.

Comments:
My background includes growing up racing BMX, which transitioned into DH riding in Bootleg Canyon located in Boulder City NV. This bike is a lot less aggressive than anything else I've been on but it has been so much fun this past year. This bike is great for climbing and fast descents. I almost purchased the Giant Reign but everywhere in Southern California has hills, so this was an ideal choice for what I have been riding. I have done some moderate drops, nothing exceeding 4-5 feet and it does just fine. First upgrades included a dropper seat post and a shorter stem. I hate, hate, hate the brakes, and looking to upgrade them in the near future.

Comments:
The bike climbs very well compared to my other bike, its very responsive going down hill no matter what terrain you are riding, the FOX fork and rear suspension works great. Bike is very plush. The wheel size is perfect, It didn't take me long to get used to it, coming from a 26 wheel. I am not very happy with the handlebar being so wide, but that is a personal choice. And the brakes are not the best, but they do the job. All the cables going inside the frame give the bike a clean look. Its a great bike overall.
